Sandcruiser - All Terrain Wheelchair
Everybody loves the outdoors and Kalbarri now has a beach wheelchair so everyone can enjoy our beautiful climate and foreshore. Those who are physically impaired and keen to explore the Murchison River can use the Sandcruiser Wheelchair for easy access to the water and boat fishing. The chair is an accessible free service stored on the foreshore next to the Kalbarri Boat Hire.
Located on the main street of town with disabled parking available, the visitor centre is wheelchair friendly with automatic doors and disabled toilets at the rear of the centre.
Kalbarri National Park - Skywalk
The Skywalk has designated accessible parking bays and are approximately 180m from the Skywalk via a wide concrete path. There are two toilet blocks each with one wheelchair accessible toilet. One block is 25m from the parking area while the other is 240m. The paths to the attraction are concrete and approximately 2.1m wide. Ramps and handrails allow wheelchair users full access to enjoy views of the scenic gorges and soaring cliffs along the Murchison River.
Kalbarri National Park - Nature’s Window & The Loop
While Nature’s Window walk is not currently wheelchair accessible, visitors with restricted mobility can see panoramic views of the Murchison River gorge from the top lookout. There is a wheelchair accessible lookout/viewing deck at the start of the walk. There are two unisex toilets, neither of which is wheelchair accessible - the nearest accessible toilet is located at Kalbarri Skywalk.
The main lookout is about 530m from the designated accessible parking bay and apart from the last few metres where there are steps, the path way is wheelchair accessible. Two inclined information panels and a stone seating wall are provided at the lookout. There is only one accessible parking bay provided in the sealed parking area which has room for 25 vehicles and two long vehicles. There are no toilet facilities at this location.
A winding trail to the beach starts near the Eagle Gorge lookout and is clearly signposted. The distance from the nearest vehicle bay to the lookout is 160m - this path is wheelchair accessible with gradients ranging from level to a maximum of three. A picnic table is situated part way along the way to the lookout and is wheelchair accessible (on one end only) with a table height of 76cm. The lookout can be reached by a 160m accessible path from the parking area.
This 1.8km wheelchair accessible loop is easy to traverse with a flat even surface, and no steps. There is a190m sealed collector path around the perimeter of the parking area that links up with the accessible paths and to the toilets, shade shelter and Castle Cove and Natural Bridge lookouts.
Enjoy the Murchison River gorge views from the sheltered Hawks Head picnic area or take the path to the lookout point. The lookout viewing platform is wheelchair accessible with 1m high safety railing. There are wheelchair accessible toilet facilities.
